Adroit’s Manual Bar Screen is a cost-effective and reliable solution for floating/solid waste screening in sewerage treatment plants (STP), industrial effluent treatment plants, and stormwater drain systems. The design is simple and rugged offering ease of operation. Adroit’s manual bar screens ensure optimal removal of solids/floating waste and overall treatment performance.
In wastewater treatment, the primary stage involves removal of floating, undissolved solid waste/debris which is crucial to protect downstream equipment and ensuring efficient wastewater treatment. Manual bar screens are used in the initial stage of sewerage treatment. It is a cost-effective and straightforward solution for coarse screening.
A manual bar screen is an equipment that comprises of vertical inclined bars with bars spaced at specific intervals to filter out waste/debris from wastewater channel as per screening requirement. Installed at the inlet of wastewater treatment plants, these screens filter debris such as plastics, rags, and other floating waste that could damage pumps and other downstream equipment. The simplicity of the design allows low cost and easy operation and maintenance screening solution in low waste load applications.
The screen is installed in a channel in an inclined angle allowing screening of waste/ debris while allowing water to flow through. The spacing between bars determine the size of waste that shall be filtered from the flowing water. The bar spacing can range from 6mm-100mm. As wastewater flows through the manual screen, floating waste and solids are accumulated on the screen which are then removed manually
Bar Spacing: 6mm and above
Material: Stainless Steel 304, 316
Channel depth and width: As per client requirement

A manual bar screen is used for removing floating waste and solids from incoming wastewater to protect pumps and downstream equipment and enhance the overall efficiency of wastewater treatment.
The cleaning frequency depends on the waste load and flow rate but should be performed at regularly intervals as per debris load to prevent clogging and ensure efficiency.
Manual bar screen can manage low to moderate flow rates, treatment facilities with high flow rates or large debris loads may benefit from mechanical screens reducing manual labour and enhancing efficiency.
Stainless steel grades 304 and 316, are used due to its durability and resistance to corrosion in wastewater application.
These screen are ideal for smaller facilities or those with smaller debris loads. Larger plants or those with high waste load or flow rate might require mechanical screens for effective operation.
Key consideration that influence the design include bar spacing, inclination angle, material selection, and the dimensions of the installation channel, the manual bar screen is manufactured to client’s specific requirements.
