Belt Conveyor
Troughed belt conveyors that carry screenings, grit and sludge over long distances with low power and minimal spillage.
Simple, economical conveying over longer distances
Adroit’s Belt Conveyor carries solid waste and screenings in treatment plants, over short or long distances and in straight or inclined runs. Offset idlers form the belt into a trough, so bulk material sits in the middle of the belt and spillage stays minimal.
For longer conveying distances and higher volumes, a belt conveyor can offer lower power demand than some screw-conveyor arrangements while providing gentle material handling.

When to choose a belt conveyor
Application
Belt conveyors are suited to longer conveying distances and higher material volumes, for example along a row of mechanical screens to a common collection point. For shorter enclosed runs where odour and spillage containment are important, a screw conveyor may be more suitable.
How the belt conveyor works
Operation
A continuous belt runs between a drive pulley and a tail pulley, supported along its length on idler rollers. Material is dropped on to the belt at the loading point and carried to the discharge end, where it falls into a bin, skip or the next conveyor. The offset troughing idlers keep the belt in a bowl shape so the material stays on the belt.

Frequently asked questions
FAQ
What is a belt conveyor used for in an STP?
To carry screenings, grit and sludge from treatment equipment to collection or disposal points.
Belt conveyor or screw conveyor?
A belt conveyor is suited to long distances and high volumes. A screw conveyor provides an enclosed conveying path and can be preferable for shorter runs where odour and spillage containment are important. Final selection depends on material, distance, inclination and site layout.
Can the conveyor be inclined?
Yes. Straight and inclined layouts are available.
What belt widths are available?
500 mm to 1200 mm, chosen from the material volume and layout.
